Import

You may upload your entire data mapping with the Import feature. You may also add new entries to an existing data mapping. Please contact reThink Trust support https://support.rethinktrust.io/ if you are unsure about using this feature.

Upload and validate

Choose Upload from the Export/Import tab and then select your local file.

The file you choose is uploaded and validated. Note that the data is NOT imported yet. If there are validation errors, you will find them by scrolling through the page in the “Messages” column.

Below is an example of an error in a file upload. Notice the red error message at the top of the output. Scroll through the Messages until you find errors (there may be more than one and they may not be sequential).

Errors appear in red font.

After a successful upload and validation, scroll to the bottom of the page.

Department filter

If you wish to import only certain departments, deselect departments on the dropdown.

Import method

Next choose your import method. There are two available.

WARNING: Before importing, we recommend you export and save a copy of your data mappings as they appear immediately before an import.

Import method #1: Just insert new items and mapping

Just insert new items and mapping: Nothing will be deleted, only new picklist items and new data mappings will be inserted. Note that changing an item from an Export results in a NEW item being uploaded; the previous item will also remain even if it is not in the Excel sheet.

After choosing your method, click “Import Now”. On the popup to Confirm Action, again click “Import Now”.

When the import completes you should get a message that it was successful. The messages column will give the results for each item.

Scroll through the results and messages. A success message also appears at the bottom of the import details.

Import method #2: Delete existing mapping and import new items and mapping

Delete existing mapping and import new items and mapping: All data mappings (mapping links) will be deleted! Picklist items will not be deleted and new picklist items will be inserted. See the explanation of Picklists vs. Mappings in the Export section of this guide. Note that changing a picklist item from an Export results in a new picklist item being uploaded; the previous picklist item will also remain even if it is not in the Excel sheet.

After choosing your method, click “Import Now”. On the popup to Confirm Action, again click “Import Now”.

When the import completes you should get a message that it was successful. The messages column will give the results for each item.

Scroll through the results and messages. Notice the Messages in the mapping links sections will say “Created”. This is because all mapping links were deleted as the first upload step, then all mapping links in your upload file were created; even if they existed before. A success message also appears at the bottom of the import details.

Complete data mapping upload

After an import, you must Validate your data mappings. Follow the instructions found in creating new entries – Validate data mapping.

After Validate, you must update Service Providers and Third Parties with personal information types. Follow the instructions found in creating new entries – Update Service Providers and Third Parties.
